Why are my valves not opening and closing correctly?

Update the valve firmware by: Going in to the Smart Life App, select the ‘Me’ tab along the bottom, select the settings icon in the top right hand corner, select the ‘Device Update’ tab and proceed to update the valve firmware to the latest version

Why are my valves not fully closing when the valves set temperature = room temperature?

There are two ways to control the valve actuators (Valve Control Method - Option No. 8 in Advanced Options)
a) PID uses an adaptive algorithm to adjust the valves according to the set and room temperature

b) ON/OFF adjusts the valves by specific amounts depending on the room temperature in relation to the set temperature

Why are my valves staying open when I lower the set temperature or valves are closing when I increase the set temperature? 

This may happen after initial setup when using the PID control method, while the learning algorithm adjust to the room dimensions and radiator power. If the problem persists, try changing ‘Valve Seal Type’ in Advanced Settings from 0: Soft Seal to 1: Hard Seal. Why are my valve actuator settings switching between 15 and 20 degrees intermittently throughout the day?

They are in automatic mode. For more control, please switch to manual mode (see auto mode settings above)

 

Why will my smart valve actuators not connect to the network?

Zigbee is a mesh network where only mains powered devices will retransmit messages not destined for them. Ensure you have sufficient smart lightbulbs, power switches, etc. near your valve actuators for them to receive a good signal. Perform the initial pairing closer to one of these devices or your gateway.

 

Will the Sandy Beach smart valve actuators pair to my existing gateway?  

Sandy Beach Retailing smart valved work best with our gateway, but may work with other Tuya compatible gateways

 

Which Apps can I connect to with the Gateway?

The supplied gateway works with the ‘Smart Life’, & ‘Tuya APP’ (Tuya apps), along with the ‘Smart RM’(our own proprietary app). Free open-source software projects such as Home Assistant, zigbee2mqtt and many others also offer a nearly unlimited choice of interaction methods with the valve actuators through automated or manual means. 

 

Are there any functionality limitation within different apps?

Each app is limited by its design scope. Contact their developers for feature requests or see if a different app suits your needs better.

 

Why are my valve actuators reporting zero battery?

Batteries vary their voltage at different rates through their depletion. Ensure you have spares when the symbol lights up. If the problem continues after this, please reach out to support@sandybeachretail.com

 

Why are my valve actuators reporting an E1 motor fault?

Remove the batteries for ten minutes and replace them (ensuring they are alkaline batteries, not rechargeable). Contact your vendor if the fault persists. If the problem continues after this, please reach out to support@sandybeachretail.com

 

Why are my valve actuators reporting an E2 sensor fault?

Remove the batteries for ten minutes and replace them (ensuring they are alkaline batteries, not rechargeable). Contact your vendor if the fault persists. If the problem continues after this, please reach out to support@sandybeachretail.com

 

Why won't my valve actuators fit on my radiator and keep popping off?

Remove the small grey plastic cylinder from the inside of the threaded part to ensure a better fit.
